Job Summary: As a Senior Press Brake Operator at CEM, you will be responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining CNC press brake machines to fabricate metal components according to precise specifications. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in press brake operation, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
Key Responsibilities:
Machine Setup and Operation:
- Support Engineering by identifying potential material stretch issues and having correction made to shop drawings/instructions.
- Set up and operate press brake machines (accurpress and JMT) to bend, form, and shape metal sheets according to technical drawings and specifications.
- Select and install appropriate tooling, dies, and machine settings for each job.
- Perform first-piece inspections to ensure accuracy and make necessary adjustments.
Quality Control:
- Inspect and measure completed workpieces to ensure they meet quality standards and specifications.
- Identify and correct any defects or errors in the fabrication process.
- Maintain a high level of precision and attention to detail in all tasks.
Maintenance and Troubleshooting:
- Perform routine maintenance on press brake machines to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
- Troubleshoot and resolve any issues with machine operation or tooling.
- Report any major equipment malfunctions to maintenance personnel for repair.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate records of production runs, including setup parameters, production quantities, and inspection results.
- Complete job travelers and other production documentation as required.
Safety Compliance:
- Follow all safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
- Conduct regular safety inspections and report any hazards to the safety manager.
- Participate in safety training sessions and meetings.
Training and Mentorship:
- Provide training and guidance to junior press brake operators and other team members.
- Share best practices and technical expertise to enhance team capabilities.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical training in machine operation or metal fabrication is preferred.
- Proven experience as a press brake operator
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications.
- Strong knowledge of press brake machines, tooling, and setup procedures.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to use precision measuring tools, such as calipers and micrometers.
- Strong commitment to safety and quality.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
